Background Information
 
 
In 2004, Leonor Lin assisted approximately 86 U.S. companies in locating Taiwanese buyers and Taiwanese suppliers for the U.S. companies’ products. Lin’s office receives at least 70 to 80 inquiries per month from U.S. companies to assist them with the possibilities of doing business in Southeast Asia. Lin’s office will arrange the details of a company’s trip to Taiwan, and will assist with arranging all of the meetings.
 
 
The formal name of the Taiwan Trade Center is the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). This Council is the foremost non-profit trade promotion organization of Taiwan, which was founded in 1970 to help promote foreign trade. TAITRA assists Taiwan businesses and manufacturers to reinforce their international competitiveness and to cope with the challenges they face in the foreign markets. In addition, TAITRA undertakes many initiatives to help foreign businesses establish a wider presence in Taiwan.
 
 
Furthermore, TAITRA provides different services that include: marketing promotion, collecting trade information, organizing exhibitions, conducting market research and surveys, promoting product design and packaging, offering convention services, and providing trade education.
