WINDOW FOR THE WORLD

2005 Taiwan Business Alliance Forum - Nanotechnology and Its Industrial Applications set for September 22

To promote the investment advantages and business opportunities of targeted industries in Taiwan, the MOEA will hold the 2005 Taiwan Business Alliance Forum on September 22 at the Taipei International Conference Center. The nation's booming nanotechnology industry will be the focus of the forum.

The schedule for this year's forum will include industry-specific speeches by big names from Taiwan and abroad during the pre-noon period, and four separate area-specific panel meetings, focusing on nanotechnology as it relates to traditional industry, electronics, biotechnology and energy, in the afternoon. Around 400 domestic and foreign business leaders will be invited to participate.

This year's forum is being conducted in combination with Taiwan Nano Tech 2005, which is organized by the National Science & Technology Program for Nanotechnology, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). Taiwan Nano Tech 2005 will present the island's latest nanotechnology achievements and will include a National Nano Project Management & Evaluation Conference, Business Opportunity Forum, Taiwan Business Alliance Forum, International Workshop, APEC Forum and International Exhibition on Nanotechnology.

Together, this series of activities will comprise 2005 Taiwan International Nanotechnology Week. This week of activities is designed to allow businesspeople, officials and academics from overseas to gain an overall understanding of the developments, applications and business opportunities related to nanotechnology in Taiwan. It will further provide all the information foreign businesses might seek concerning nanotechnology investment, technology cooperation and business opportunities.

Touted as Taiwan's "one-stop nanotech shop," this week of events will open a new door to nanotechnology investment in Taiwan.

More details on the forum can be found on the Invest in Taiwan website: http://investintaiwan.nat.gov.tw for your reference.
